NT002 - NAKED ON THE VAGUE

THE MICKEY MOUSE HEADACHE TAPE

This release is a 30 min collage of live material, taken from the bands tour of the USA in 2008, and a show in Canberra in 2007. This was NOTV operating as duo, Lucy Phelan & Matthew Hopkins. Each side is a 15 min collage. Mostly drum machine, bass and organ sections taken from existing songs and 'jams', edited together to form a document of the industrial and more harsh territory the pair covered around this time. The tape still maintains NOTV's sense of 'pop' though.

NT001 - BAD TABLES

Here is the link to the 'Silver Shadow Ghost Tape'. A solo project by Matthew Hopkins under the name 'Bad Tables'. The first Near Tapes release. 30 min cassette. Consists of layered found tape sounds, wind/organ loops, feedback loops and nonsensical made up language hymn style vocals. All this plonked on top of constant electronic percussion that builds from rhumba and cha-cha style drum beats to industrial drum machine sounds. Bad Tables has also released a CDR album on the Spanish Magic label.
